5 Ways of Making Performance Management More Inspiring

Performance management and inspiration might sound like a bit of an oxymoron, but I believe that making the process as fun and inspiring as possible is crucial, and will lead to effective performance management.
In many workplaces, performance management has become an aspect of working life that is anticipated with dread and disdain. So, here are five ways to make the process more fun, more contemporary, and more productive.

Image: Biblio Archives
Simple Software
There are now excellent computer software packages designed to monitor and analyse performance management in simple, straightforward ways that are easy to use and interpret. Software such as Sonar6 allows you to set goals, plan career development, have more meaningful conversations and tracks your talent. The attractive look of the software also means that it won’t bore you to death.
Think Positive
It is a real shame that performance management has many employees donning their armour and drawing their shields. The best kind of performance management is that which, according to HR guru Helena Moore, leads people to ‘come out of it feeling more energised and positive.’
Be Nice!
Focusing on an individual’s achievements and skills is hugely beneficial, as they will come out of a meeting feeling that they are valued. If an employee particularly thrives in one area, then let that be their specialist area. Don’t try to squash people into boxes they simply don’t fit in to, as this will lead to a miserable working environment.
Integrate Social Media
Social media can offer a higher level of perspective on how staff are performing, and help them to see where their strengths lie as well as the areas where they might have missed the mark. Social media commenting can often be traced back to specific employees, making it a useful tool. Social feedback is currently more important than ever, and should not be ignored, as this is what potential customers and clients will refer to when they are deciding which company to go with.
Chats and Cuppas
Taking an employee aside for an appraisal when you have hardly spoken to them before is sure to make them feel nervous. Conversation and a fairly relaxed atmosphere with staff helps to encourage honesty and lower stress when it comes to appraisals and performance management. The other benefit is that if you know your staff then you will have a much better idea of what motivates them and what causes them to retreat. The key purpose of performance management is to make employees more effective, and if you know their personality type then this will be much easier.

Sophie McGovern writes for Vinehouse, an HR consultancy firm specialising in performance management. What is performance management? Sophie believes that it is all about encouraging staff to achieve their potential.

A thin line between life and death

When we bring them to our home, we were very happy. They were tiny rabbits, probably both female, although I asked the vendor to give us the pair.  My 11 year old kid, Pravar More was very excited, ultimately he got friends with whom he can play, can touch and love.

I was happy for him as he got the company and was relaxed that he wouldn’t feel lonely, being single child. Rabbits were lovely, small, white, gradually mingled with us, and were given names. Now all of us were in their duty, my husband since morning started serving them. He tried several types of plants leaves, grasses, and vegetables and without failing providing us regular feedbacks about their likes and dislikes.

Rabbits, were choosy, they loved to taste different types of food and were not adhered to one type of taste. If they were hungry, they come to us to have some food. They stood erect and whipped their mouth with both the forehands was so innocent that make us crazy.
But the unfortunate day 17th April, 2012 reached. We started our day as usual. That day I came early from the office as we had to leave for Ujjain for some pending work. I put them into little basket, started journey by car. Everything went well. After completing our task we reached home in the night.

Ah….trouble in expressing the next story in words.

I got down, after my son from the car. He had Rabbit in his hand, His father instructed him to leave them for some time in the garden and stay there. He did. As others were following us, the door was opened.

I went inside and not sure, why I called up my son, he entered into the room. Suddenly I heard creaching voice first time of the Rabbit. My heart throbbed out. I realized what blunder we did. We had left the poor rabbit in the garden. As we reached out the dogs had hold him in the jaws and rushed to door. My mother and I yelled. The dog left the Rabbit. I rushed to close the door, suddenly I saw 2 more dogs rushing after one anther towards rabbit. I couldn’t find place to save him, as both the dogs already reached to the rabbit and hold her brutally. My husband rushed listening our voice, he had beaten dog with the chair, placed in the garden, both the dogs ran leaving her.

My husband brought him into the room, his hair was wet but no signs of blood. He put him on the floor, as the rabbit tried to walk, we found, he was dragging both the legs and stomach. . My son and I started crying.

We thought he would survive and got ready to take him to the pet doc, but very soon, we discovered that he won't live. The rabbit had put his head down, rolled his eyes and started taking last breathe. We were left alone with the memories.

This is the second time, when I saw the creature meeting death. First was my own brother.

I am dedicating my blog to him, with a feeling of guilt, please forgive us.

The Power of Owning your own Corporation

Finance From The Heavens

If you are the owner or CEO of a large corporation you are in a unique position to potentially become an angel investor. Angel financing describes predominantly individual investors who will place personal funds into a business as an investment, in return for an equity share or convertible debt in most instances. Although the term angel investor is used to describe individuals, there are growing trends for groups of investors and business to begin angel investing.
These methods have many favourable outcomes, as groups will often share different areas of expertise meaning they will have a greater pool of research and knowledge at their disposal, as well as the power of additional capital. This can greatly increase the prospects of both an investment into a business being successful as well as increasing the likely equity returns at the conclusion of the investment.
From a corporation point of view, such investments and angel financing initiatives can help to add value to both the investor business and the organisation or individual which has received the investment. Bringing an additional organisation into an umbrella group can have long term benefits all round.

Making The Most Of Angel Financing

Angel financing traditionally carries a very high risk factor, and with this in mind it is best to only look at prospective investments which are liable to carry a return of at least a factor of ten. The reason for seeking out such a high equity return is that there is potential for a lot of angel investments to end in a total loss, particularly when the funding has been placed into new start up businesses. The high returns yielded from successful investments means that those involved in angel financing remain profitable despite having a number of investments in businesses that have ultimately failed. With all of this balanced, angel investors can over time typically expect to achieve profits of between 20 and 30 per cent.

Timescales

For a tenfold return it is recommended that angel investors look for a clearly defined exit strategy within a business which allows them to make these returns within a five year period. There is however a growing trend within angel financing for investors to seek much higher returns, such as at twenty or even thirty times the initial level of investment to further counter balance unsuccessful investments, as well as increase overall returns. These higher yield investments are usually over a longer period, generally up to ten years.
Angel financing includes individual investors who place personal funds into a business as an investment, in return for an equity share or convertible debt.

3 Things Your Business Can Learn from Justin Bieber

He has tween girls in a frenzy. His name is spoken by radio shows, TV shows and blogs across the globe. Boys want to be him and girls want to marry him. He is Justin Bieber, and he is America's latest heartthrob.
Justin Bieber was a YouTube sensation that has now turned into a media frenzy. And whether you love him or hate him, this 18-year-old boy can teach us a few things about business.

1. Make yourself known.

Bieber started playing music and singing when he was a toddler. He taught himself how to dance and how to play numerous instruments. He had a desire to perform, and with YouTube at his fingertips, he started making videos of his talents for the public to see.
And the public saw. And the public loved. And eventually, this young boy was taken under the wings of Usher and has generated millions of fans and record sales in a short amount of time.
Your company has to do the same thing. If you want to get more business, you have to make a name for yourself and get yourself out there. Create a marketing plan, and start flaunting your products and services. Once people know who you are and what you do, they will be more inclined to learn more about your products and services.
2. You have to reach your target audience.

Justin Bieber's main demographic is girls from 8-15 years of age. He knows this, and his marketing team knows this, and they both cater to this demographic through what he wears, how he acts, what he sings and what events he attends.
Your company needs to also have a firm grasp on your target audience, too. Knowing who is most likely to purchase your products and services will allow you to create marketing tactics that will appeal to these specific individuals. If you can place the right marketing in front of the right people, you will see a significant increase in your sales.
3. Interact with your audience.

Like most celebrities, Bieber has a Twitter account and he uses this as a way to interact with his fans. While he may not respond to every tweet he receives directly, he does tweet about things he enjoys or places that he'll be as well as letting his fans know how much he appreciates them.
Your company needs to also engage and interact with your customers. Create social media accounts as a way to become more personal with your customers and make sure to attend community events. Get to know your customers. See what interests them, and you can use it to tailor your marketing tactics effectively.
At such a young age, Justin Bieber has it all. He has the money, the charm, the talent, the good looks, and he knows how to market himself. Your company can learn a thing or two from him, and while you may not put teenage girls in a frenzy, you can still become more successful.

Shri Shri Ravi Shankar's visit to Indore

Got an opportunity to listen Shri Shri Ravi Shankar (who conceptualize and founded "Art of Living" worldwide). The program was organized in DAVV Auditorium and Nehru Stadium at Indore.

The excitement was too much to see him that we reached one day before as well to the place, without checking the date of programme in the Invitation card :))

The hall was full and we didn't get an entry to the auditorium and had to manage outside open sky seating area where the prior arrangements were done expecting the number of audience to come.

The program started well in time, before that there was lovely melodious bhajan recitation. I must say the music team had created an spiritual environment before his arrival.

I saw two times the gathering went to door, expecting the Shri Shri Ravi Shankar's arrival.  The mob was specifically students and not the followers of any sect. That was the good thing of this type of lectures.

As he arrived, he addressed the Indorians and said he had to be Indoor in Indore.Than he asked the gathering to start with QA session. In his message he said, dare to dream. He said have 2 targets in your life- One for yourself and One for the society.

QA session had lot of queries, among which I am sharing herewith the jest of his message.

He addressed the youth and said, before taking the dreadful decisions like committing suicide, take his permission first. If somebody is failed in love, it doesn't mean the life is finished. There are n number of best matches available leaving one who denied to accept your love.

On query "Why am I born", he said, the question itself is the answer and if you asked this, you got the mantra to success and the real meaning of life.

He mentioned the need of Gurus and their role in the society, he said Gurus were like guide in older times and if you feel distressed just discuss your problem with your class teacher or your gurus.

He discussed the importance of 4 pillars who always stand by in your life which was really beautiful mantra he shared- Mother, Father, Guru and God (Dev).

On question asked - how to stop oneself going in wrong direction. He said this is only done by either Love or Greed or Fear. You can choose the best option for yourself.

Pl do note, the Questions and replies are not word to word description but based on memory.

I was excited to see one blind man in his followers who came to listen him in the campus.

Hats off to the Indorians for their active participation in such ethical and society development gathering.

Jobs that teach you the real vitures of life.

Everyone thinks (s)he deserves better job than the present. I am not listing here about the best jobs.

Many successful celebrities had started their carrier with very small profile and low salaried jobs which induced some lessons in their early stages of carrier which were remembered even they reached at top. Seeing their growth path, most of us consider the luck factor as the biggest contributor but oversee the skills they developed, hard work they did, their dedication and passion to their work, their strong belief in self.

darryl-willis-claims-center.JPGFor most of us first job days are memorable:
* One learns new skill sets, gains knowledge about the job and learns experiences,
* Understands the difference between professional and student's life,
* Develops an attitude to life,
* Learns to cope up in organizational politics
* Flexibility to change
* Need for survival in the competition
* Belief in self

There are several live examples around of such celebrities who started their carriers with such low status or low salaried job and achieved the dream success. The low paid jobs shouldn't be considered as low status jobs and one must do to learn the basics of life which can't be learned in A/C cabins and management classes.

Are you having different view than this? If yes than do share.....

On 63rd Republic Day of India.

My post is inspired by an article written by a lady saying - ""God bless America". In her post, she thanked Jejus, the America, good people who helped her in her ups and downs and US military for her and her family's survival and life during escape from communist Cuba.

Well on  63rd Indian Republic day, I would also like to thank God for giving us birth in free India. India had suffered the 200 years of slavery and our great patriots sacrificed their lives to get the Independence. Being an Indian, my duty doesn't get fulfilled with flag hoisting and reciting National Anthem, I pay my homage to all the great Indian warriors and take this opportunity to thank every Indian; a teacher, a policeman, an administrator, a scientists and a researchers, an entrepreneur, a student, a media person, a politician .....who understood their responsibilities and committed their best to flourish India (doesn't matter to what extent). In spite of evils in the society Indian owe a sense of responsibilities, values and dedication, which is the biggest asset of India.

I wish every Indian a Happy Republic Day and Jai Hind.

Revolution of touch screen technology

Touch screen technology has brought the revolution into the industry. The man is lazy by nature and he wants most of things just happen with just a click or on touch.

Since my birth I am listening stories of the fairies doing amazing just by touching; great saints healing by keeping hand over head. In the corner somewhere, there was unbelief to such stories, today even nothing much changed. But I could realize the “Power of Touch” with touch screen technology.

Scientist payless efforts made this possible and in the reach of the common man. Now a common man like any king is getting what he desires, in terms of information through internet. The day is not far when on just touch or click, he would get physically what he wants.
2 people wished same product at same time, the delivery of that is possible but suppose if 2 persons at a time wished for same common friend to be present and share a cup of tea, how the programming will be done? Will the request of the another person be que? Or the system will hang.

Such crap imaginations usually come to my mind. Well so many unimagined things happened, might my imagination can also take shape one day.

I could not wait to see such miracle.

Innocent Indians are paying for their lives to study higher: The Racial Discrimination

The incidents of killing & stabbing to death of the Indians are getting common in developed countries like Australia, Britain.

The Indians who opted to study abroad to have better opportunities and livings for themselves and their families are becoming victims of such inhumane act. The Indian social and family structure don't allow every common middle status parent to afford the high educational expenses, but to fulfill their child's dream take Educational loans on higher interest rate or sell their life long assets.

The decision is not easy for both the family member or a child to opt to study abroad. Both have to overcome the emotional, financial, legal procedure barriers to reach to this decision.

A child, born with different cultural values and nurtured in cozy and secure environment has to prepare himself to be adoptable to the totally different and comparable insecure outside environment.

In-spite of all reasons, they convince and show each other a ray of hope for bright future.

In such situations if the family gets news of his child's death its inconsolable and intolerable.

The factors working against their beautiful dreams probably be the Racial Discrimination; Insecure Mentality; Anti-globalization for not giving equal opportunities to outsiders.

Alok Gupta, Subhash Bidve, Nitin Garg are some of the recent victims of anyone of above mentioned factors and there is a long list of such.

A hearty appeal to the globe to raise voice against it and give immediate required help to the victim.

Gita is not an extremist literature says Russian court

In an historic verdict, Russian court said that there is nothing extremist in the Gita, a sacred literature of Hindus. Russian court rejects the plea to ban Gita and said it was "one of the interpretations of the sacred Hindu scripture Bhagwad Gita and there was no ground to recognize the book as extremist literature .

It's a big win for Indian mythology, its believers and ISKCON members who protested the Siberian state prosecutors demand for the ban. The prosecutors had asked the court to include the book on the "Russian federal list of extremist materials", which also includes Adolf Hitler's "Mein Kampf".

The verdict came a day after external affairs minster SM Krishna met Russian envoy Alexander Kadakin and told him to provide all possible help to resolve the issue, which has been in the court for the last 6 months.

On release of verdict, SM Krishna said, "This demonstrates yet again that the people of India and Russia have a deep understanding of each other's cultures."

Russia and India are the great neighbors, political friends and this has been proved again on the human grounds as well.

Progressing India- Introduction of "Banking" as a compulsary subject upto 8th Standard.

As New year is arriving, everyday we are hearing newer and lure announcements by the industries to market their products.
Now government is also not behind in making such announcements in academics. Few week back, MP Govt. announced to teach Bhagvat Gita to teach Moral lessons in the school.

The core concept of the financial management " Saving and its importance" will be induced into the little minds with the help of character "Raju and his Money Tree". The Nine Planets Influence on Man - Pt. Ashok Mishra

As the Nine planets influence Earth, their move also affect Man's Health, Wealth and Mental.
Indian astrology or Astroshastra is totally based on Planets, their nature, their distance from the earth, their atmosphere. The belief in this becomes strong if someone experience the truth in the life and had overcome from the major predicted incident.
Astrology is more of Science than arts because, it is purely based on calculations, angles between planet and sun, the fixed movement of these planets in different Star-sign (Rashi) and the different effect of each planet to different star-sign.

My writing about Astrology in my blog has some ground.

A day I was watching movie, with my son, Pravar. Some guests visited my father(he is diabetic and devote much of his time in Prayers, Spirituality, reading books and remedies to diabetes, and astrology).
I had little or can say no interest in all such, as I never saw the implementation of this knowledge to the real life and getting any direct benefits. Though I witnessed several God's blessings to him and towards my family, I'll talk about some of the incidents in my next upcoming blogs.
I am keen to share about a personality who is a trader by profession and Ex-serviceman. Like other astrologers he suggests the gem to wear, but interesting fact is he doesn't ask for Star-sign. He has his own instrument, which contains "Rudraksha" to predict the Stone/ Gem which he says was gifted to him by his guru, Pt. Brij Kishore Shastri. His original instrument was being theft during his travel but the new one he created with his guru's blessings and knowledge he got. Further he adds, the instrument is powered by Goddess Kamakya Devi. His name is Pt. Ashok Mishra, resident of a small and beautiful place Chatarpur.

He moves the instrument inbetween the fingers of hand and the instrument starts rotating itself, based on movements and prediction, he suggests the gem. He says, there is a human aura, a radiation, not visible by naked eyes is transmitted from the every body which is the center of his all predictions.

He carries a small box with him which consist of all stones like red munga, yellow pukhraj, Rubies, Pearls, Green sapphires which when and to whom is applicable is offered by him.
